Volume Is the Primary Result

Australian landscape yards commonly quote loose mulch by volume. Split irregular beds into simple rectangles, circles or triangles, calculate each section, and add the cubic-metre results. Subtracting trunks or small plants is usually less reliable than measuring the actual area you intend to cover.

Material Choice Changes the Weight Estimate

Selecting wood chip, bark, pine bark or another mulch changes only the indicative weight coefficient. It does not change the measured volume. Organic material varies with moisture, particle size and composition, so use the supplier's product conversion when one is available.
